Enviro-Mich message from Ishgooda <ishgooda@voyager.net>

I have spoken with Steven Weiss of the DEQ who is investigating the fumes. Was awakened coughing and gagging at 4AM again this morning.
Also spoke with Mike Smith at the quarry (he is the manager).
Steve tells me that the quarry has a water discharge permit, that the water is being treated before discharge. Mike tells me yes, they do have a permit, but it is being monitored..not treated. They are down approximately 220 feet and he needs more electrical at that level for pumps. This untreated water is being discharged on the east side of the quarry, I notice the most intense fumes on the north and west areas.
I have contacted Marla McMackin of the Heritage news paper concerning the problems, the Trenton mayors office and the city of Riverview.
This afternoon I purchased a gas mask.
