Re: E-M:/ What is Tour de Wetlands?

Enviro-Mich message from Darryl Braun <darrylrich@yahoo.com>

Why don't you add a sixth site to the agenda. Visiting
The Meadows devastated 12 acre moonscape in Inkster,
formerly a woodland/wetland of indescribable beauty,
will demonstrate the horrible consequence of failure
to appreciate nature's wonder, to combat urban sprawl
and neglect for smaller, ephemeral wetland sites
located in urban deserts, and most importantly, to
challenge the dereliction of the Engler/Harding
directed DEQ, the Agency established with the
expressed purpose of protecting environmental
treasures.

Ironically, The Meadows is the name that was adopted
by the developer for the housing project which will be
constructed on the site which formerly contained a
meadow of breathtaking beauty. That meadow is now a
cherished memory. Despite a valiant fight against
overwhelming odds, one of the last remaining wetlands
in the Inkster area has been clearcut and grated. Let
its tragic demise serve as a martyr in the most
important cause of wetland preservation.
