Eastown Neighborhood Community Garden Project
Saturday, June 22: 9:00 - Noon.
415 Ethel St. SE (just E. of Lake Dr. on Wealthy)

The Greater Grand Rapids Food Systems Council, WMEAC and the Eastown Neighborhood have teamed up to establish a Community Garden. We are about 75% done and want to finish up the project on Saturday the 22nd by finishing the beds, removing some concrete and doing some planting!


Training for Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring on the Thornapple River
Tuesday, June 25: 6:00 - 7:30 PM
Ada Township Park (Buttrick just SE of Ada off Thornapple River Dr.)

We are looking for volunteers to help with water quality monitoring on the Thornapple River in Cascade and Ada Townships. A small core group has been sampling above the Cascade dam for two years and a new effort has begun this year above the Ada dam but both groups need more volunteers to test the water on a weekly, biweekly and monthly basis. Please join us !

Paul Stankewitz, Director of the Michigan Catholic Rural Life Coalition, will talk about their national initiative: "Eating is a Moral Act" and Amy Sherman, Co-chair of Slow Food of West Michigan and Pastry Chef @ Tuscan Express, will talk about the "Joy of Eating."
