E-M:/ Unexpected Smog Report

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enviro-Mich message from "Alex J. Sagady & Associates" <ajs@sagady.com>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today is not an Ozone Action Day, but at 6 PM (7/3), ozone
concentrations are rising unexpectedly in parts of Southwest
and western Michigan.

At 6 PM, Coloma shows a 122 ppb one hour average, Holland
is at 112 ppb and Muskegon is at 112 ppb.

Cassopolis is at 127 ppb (1 hr) (over old health standard) and
Michigan City Indiana is up to 97 ppb (8 hour average).

Winds must be shifting in the Southern Lake Michigan
area to cause the unexpected ozone concentrations.

The lesson??? West winds may not mean an ozone action day
in Grand Rapids and SE Michigan......but "ozone action days"
aren't protecting Michigan citizens with ozone
air pollution awareness in extreme southern Michigan.
