SIERRA CLUB TO TAKE MATTER INTO OWN HANDS

 

AS RESULT OF STATE FAILURE TO MONITOR WATER

AROUND FACTORY FARMS

 

Volunteer “Water Sentinels” Will Begin Monitoring Water Quality Downstream of Animal Factories

 

 

What:               In light of the State of Michigan’s failure to proactively monitor water quality as promised in January 2002 in streams surrounding animal factories, the Sierra Club and impacted residents near Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations will spearhead their own volunteer water monitoring program.  Monitoring to begin in hotspots around the State and expand. 

 

When:              Tuesday July 30, 2002 at 10:00AM

 

Where:             East steps of the State Capital, Lansing, Michigan

 

Who:                Sierra Club, Environmentally Concerned Citizens of South Central Michigan, impacted residents, “Water Sentinel” volunteers
