New Southeastern Michigan Bicycle Maps

Who and What:

The Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) wants YOUR
comments on the draft bicycle maps it has created for each of the seven
counties in SEMCOG. These maps portray all existing on-road and off-road
bicycle facilities, and also highlight routes that bicyclists currently
use on a regular basis. The maps will also serve as an excellent guide
to help prioritize where to improve roads for non-motorized facilities
in order to complete a connected system. If you live and/or ride in
Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St Clair, Washtenaw or Wayne NOW is
your chance to comment on these Bicycle Travel Maps so they can be as
accurate and user-friendly as they can be.

When and Where:

Saturday, September. 14th
10:00am to noon

The Costick Center
28600 W. Eleven Mile Rd,. approximately 4 blocks east of Middlebelt Rd.
Farmington Hills, MI 48336

Why:

For the last year the SEMBike working group, led by SEMCOG Past
President Dante Lanzetta has been compiling and digitizing information
on bicycle corridors all over SE Michigan. It is now time for public
review and comment to refine the maps and figure out how to make the
information they contain available to the SEMCOG communities and the
public.

Proposed agenda:

10:00-10:05 Welcome
10:05-10:20 Remarks by Dante Lanzetta, intro of SEMBike members and
Presentation of short PowerPoint on map project
10:25-11:25 Review of various county maps by attendees
11:25-11:45 Feedback and comments from attendees on maps
11:45-12:00 Wrap up and Next Steps

The Washtenaw County map will be viewable at the City of Ann Arbor Parks
Dept., and
Ypsilanti Community and Economic development department.

For the other counties, if you are not able to attend the meeting,
contact your local County Road Commission for more information on your
county's map.

SEMCOG has a complete set of the maps for public review; please call
them at (313) 961-4266.
