E-M:/ RFK Jr. Riverkeeper events and participants sought

The Friends of the Detroit River have been licensed by the International Waterkeeper Alliance to form the new Detroit Riverkeeper Program.  To celebrate the launch of the new Riverkeeper Program, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (see link to bio below) will be coming to southeast Michigan for two days of public events and fundraising activities.

The schedule of events is attached.  To get more information, or to purchase tickets to the fundraising events, please call Elisabeth at 734-327-0019, or email at dtriverkeeper@yahoo.com .

As part of the celebrations, there will be three "riverside fairs" which are intended to be fun environmental fairs, with fun for kids, entertainment, and displays of environmental projects, programs, and technologies.  These fairs are open to the public and FREE.  Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will make a brief appreance at each of the fairs.  There will be a fourth fair that will be for Riverkeeper members only, at the Enviroment Interpretative Center on the UM Dearborn campus.  Visitors to the fairs will have the only opportunity in southeast Michigan to take a ride on the Segway (see links below), a new innovation in mobility.  Other technologies for alternative transportation will also be on display.

We are looking for additional fair participants.
  The four fairs are:

Friday Oct. 25 3am-9pm, Riverside Park in Ann Arbor
Saturday Oct. 26 9am-3pm, Flynn Pavilion, Belle Isle
Saturday Oct. 26  11am-5pm  Elizabeth Park in Trenton
Saturday Oct.26 12-4pm Environment Interpretative Center, UM Dearborn

We are seeking displays and activities that are ideally more than just a table with some literature on it.  The more interactive or hands-on, the better.  There is no fee for non-profits or government groups to participate, and we are very receptive to helping groups with their booths or displays.  If non-profit groups sell paraphernalia, we are asking for a donation of 10% of the fair-related profits (this does not include any new memberships in your group, only things you might sell).  Please contact me, Elisabeth L. Daley at the addresses above, or at eldaley@umich.edu , or 734-327-0019.  Come have fun, meet Bobby Kennedy Jr., and let the public know what exciting things your group is up to!
