"County drain contaminated by manure"

I can't find a link on the internet to the Morning Sun, but here is an
overview of the article: On August 3rd MDEQ was called to investigate
manure wastes that been released into the Dutt-Hart County drain, but MDEQ
cannot for certain determine if it came from a relatively new dairy CAFO on
the drain. A small dam just upstream from Little Salt Creek where people
fish caught the manure and the CAFO pumped out the manure, but claimed they
had nothing to do with the spill. The Twp Supervisor who reported the mess
to officials after he was alerted said there are no other operations on that
drain that could have caused this discharge. The MDEQ official
investigating the discharge are still investigating, and commented that "if
it did get from their facility, it came from underground tile or piping."

A call from a resident in that area, who has a hog CAFO 800 feet from his
house, brought this story to my attention. He observed that there are 6000
animal units in CAFOs within a 4 mile radius of his home -- that is the
equivalent in the amount of urine and feces produced by approximately 96,000
