E-M:/ Dave Dempsey speaks on "Greatness Among the Lakes: Can We Grow to Become Great Stewards of the Great Waters Before It's Too Late?"

Enviro-Mich message from "Link, Terry" <link@mail.lib.msu.edu>

Dave Dempsey, Michigan Environmental Coalition policy analyst, author, and former environment advisor to Gov. Blanchard will speak Monday, October 28 at 4:00pm in 317 Bessey, Michigan State University as part of the series on "Sustainability: Visions of an Alternative Future".

This is free and open to the public. Please forward

Michigan, the only state or province entirely in the Great Lakes Basin, has traditionally been a leader in protecting the world's greatest freshwater ecosystem. But the 21st Century will pose incredible new challenges to the lakes-and to Michigan. World population growth and water scarcity will increase the risk of water exports, exotic species and pollution could worsen, and climate change could alter fish and wildlife populations. Can the people of Michigan demonstrate to the world a new way of sustainable stewardship?
