E-M:/ Fight to save the Boardman River Valley

The Traverse Group of the Sierra Club is joining with All the Way to the Bay to bring Northern Michigan the party of the winter!  Saturday, December 7 at the VFW Hall---3400 Veterans Drive, Traverse City

A 50-50 raffle going on now with the winning tickets to be drawn at a dance featuring northern Michigan's great Cajun band "KJones and the Benzie Playboyz":
An eclectic group mostly from Benzie County, just Southwest of Traverse City. They perform Cajun and Zydeco two-steps and waltzes. The band totally enjoy shaking their own Northwood's Hot Sauce into the melodies and rhythms to keep the crowds up on their  feet dancing. The band members include Gary Worden on piano accordion, Scott Scholten on drums, Kirk Jones on button accordion, Ron Harrison electric guitar, Ingemar Johansson on nyckleharpa, Steve Fernand on guitar and main vocals, John Phillips on fiddle Tim McKay on bass, Marty Jablonski on triangle, rubboard, and hand drums, Mark Stoltz on rubboard and dance instructions.

Dance lessons begin at 7pm, music starts at 8 and the grand prize drawing will take place at 9pm.
Tickets are $10.00 available at the door or in advance by calling 231-325-6812 or 231-947-9104.  Need not be present to win.
All proceeds will directly benefit the fight to save the Boardman River and Valley and stop the Hartman-Hammond Bridge and Road project, named
in the November/December 2002 issue of the Sierra Club Activist Resource newsletter, The Planet, as one of America's 28 worst transportation projects.
