E-M:/ Find Johnny a Home

Enviro-Mich message from "Anne Woiwode" <anne.woiwode@sierraclub.org>

It occurred to me today, while reading the long overdue but fortunately now
extensive coverage of the Dow Dioxin Scandal in the Tittabawassee Valley,
that perhaps we can all pitch in and help John Engler find a new home in
Michigan, assuming he stays here. Right now, he is reportedly planning to
spend 6 months in an apartment in Lansing to allow his children to finish
the school year before permanently moving elsewhere in state. So why should
real estate agents have all the fun? Bringing your own criteria to bear,
can you help "Find Johnny a Home" and let us on enviro-mich know your

For example, the cost of elegant homes along the Tittabawassee River will
probably be as low as they ever have been right now. A nice river front
parcel will go as cheap as you could imagine, and if, with luck, the next
Governor overthrows the deal Johnny struck with Dow or if Superfund gets
reauthorized, they may even be able to turn around and sell their property
to those who will be forced to bear the price of clean up. So the potential
is there for a significant return on a modest investment, although, needless
to say, the risks are astronomical!
