One day after taking office, Gov. Jennifer Granholm on Thursday signed two
executive orders to prevent businesses convicted of breaking a state law
from doing work for the state and put a new general ethics code in place for
state executives.

Granholm said companies that violate consumer protection laws, wage laws and
environmental statutes could be prohibited from doing business with Michigan
under the order.
