Bowing to pressure from property rights militants, House Speaker Rick Johnson has defied the wishes of anglers, conservationists, and elected leaders who worked for six years to revive the Natural Rivers Act and protect two pristine rivers that run through his district. Mr. Johnson is rejecting the strong, majority opionion of his constituents. He's also repudiating the recommendation of state DNR scientists, who say that the Act is the best way to protect both the Pine and Upper Manistee rivers from unwise development. Read the story at:
