Enviro-Mich message from "Robert Zabick" <Rzabick@co.wayne.mi.us>

Thursday, May 1, 2003
University of Michigan - Dearborn Campus
8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

On May 1, 2003, over 3000 fifth grade students from 68 elementary schools across the Rouge River Watershed will participate in the sixth annual Rouge River Water Festival, co-sponsored by the Wayne County Department of Environment and the University of Michigan - Dearborn.

They will attend a series of indoor and outdoor presentations designed by over 100 water resource professionals from scientific, academic, governmental, business, and industry backgrounds. Topics include anything to do with water, such as acid rain, fish and wildlife habitat, water resource management, wastewater and drinking water treatment, oil spill clean-up, the Great Lakes, and much more.

Volunteers are needed to be Campus Guides. Volunteers will receive a Water Festival T-Shirt and a free lunch. They will act as a guide for a class of fifth graders, and make sure that the class gets to their assigned presentations on schedule.

To be a Guide, Volunteers MUST:

* Be over 18 years old
* Be available from 8 AM to 3 PM on Thursday, May 1, 2003
* Be in physical condition to walk the U of M Dearborn Campus
* Complete and return a Volunteer Registration Form by April 18, 2003
* Attend a half-hour orientation session on May 1st (the day of the festival), at 8:00 AM

If you have an interest in volunteering, contact Bob Zabick at rzabick@co.wayne.mi.us
or phone me at (313) 224-8172. I will get you a Volunteer Registration Form and additional information.
