E-M:/ another threat to coastal wetlands

A group of coastal property owners has again prompted introduction of legislation to remove public notice and oversight of wetland destruction along the Great Lakes shoreline. House Bill 4257 is first in line. A Senate bill will soon be introduced.
According to SOS board member Joe McBride of Caseville, the group is making progress in its efforts to ease beachfront maintenance regulations by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the Army Corps of Engineers. Two bills in the state legislature are being worked on and are receiving support from legislators statewide.
