Michigan State Parks Stewardship Program is seeking volunteers for this
summer's Piping Plover Patrol. Volunteers are needed especially on
weekends from mid-May through late July to interact with park visitors
by answering questions about the Piping Plover and making sure beach
users are aware about closed areas where the Piping Plovers are nesting.
Last year plovers nested at Wilderness State Park, Tawas Point State
Park and Leelanau State Park.

All volunteers will receive an official Piping Plover t-shirt and to
help facilitate volunteering, one night of free camping will be provided
for each 8 hours of volunteer time given (subject to availability),
Volunteers are asked to work one or more, four hour shifts. If you
would like to volunteer please visit our web site
to sign-up or contact Lisa Gamero, Piping Plover Patrol Coordinator at
(517) 241-4789, or e-mail: gamerol@michigan.gov.

Thank you,

Lisa Gamero
