E-M:/ Shoreline Issue

Enviro-Mich message from Terry & Barb Miller <terbar@concentric.net>

For those interested in SB 244 and the issue of emergent wetlands on
exposed bottomlands, the Shoreline Task Force recently published its study
of the issue and came up with its recommendations. It is available at:

The results of the Shoreline Taskforce were headlined in the Bay City
Times today: Beachfront issues adrift. The story included a large picture
of groomed beaches.

In addition, the Times had a story on the retirees who are "vowing" to
"defend beach maintenance."

I must share the quote from the U.S. attorney's office on the last story:

"Though the Kincaids may not find the natural state of the areas...to their
liking, they simply cannot claim to be struggling to preserve that natural
state. Rather their fight , spurred on by SOS (Save Our Shorelines, Inc.) is
a fight against natural processes and the Corps' attempt to protect the
natural state of the Great Lakes shoreline. Neither the Kincaids nor SOS
have any claim to the moral high ground."
