E-M:/ Seney Wildlife Refuge Ozone

Enviro-Mich message from "Alex J. Sagady & Associates" <ajs@sagady.com>

Just got off the phone with MDEQ's Mary Ann Heindorf to get
results for ozone monitoring yesterday at the Seney National
Wildlife Refuge in the east central Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

They went code "red" yesterday on ozone, most likely from
Chicago transport.

Highest 1 hour reading was 134 ppb ... an excursion over the old health
standard and about as high was what was experienced in northern Macomb
county yesterday.

Highest 8 hour average (starting at 4 pm) was 116 ppb.....about the
same as Warren MI ozone yesterday.

There is also a "haze web cam" at Seney you can look at at:

....which is part of a national network of haze monitoring stations
in the US.

Also, some parenthetical news....

.....the Grand Traverse Band of the Ottawa and Chippewa Indians
has just started doing ozone monitoring at Suttons Bay, north of Traverse
City. That Indian Nation Tribe has been particularly active recently
on environment/natural resources issues......
