Due to conflicts with vacations and summer fun, the SWCS has decided to postpone the summer meeting "Michigan Wetlands" until October 17-18. Several excellent presenters are lined up to speak about valuable information on wetlands. Please mark it on your calendars to attend.

Dear Friend of Conservation,

The Michigan Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society will be holding a fall meeting in Michigan's Upper Peninsula on Friday and Saturday, October 17-18, 2003. The meeting will be headquartered in the Quality Inn and Suites Conference Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. It has been a couple of years since the Chapter has had an opportunity to hold a meeting in the far northern part of our State. This will be more than an ordinary meeting. Arrangements have been made with a number of presenters to highlight a topic of natural resource concern.

This year's meeting will follow the theme: "Michigan Wetlands". A number of wetlands related topics have been selected for discussion by a panel of qualified presenters. The meeting will include an opportunity to visit and view several recently completed wetlands restoration projects in the Lake Clay Plains are of Chippewa County, Michigan.

I am inviting you (your friends and your family) on behalf of our Society, to attend this year's October meeting in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The agenda and registration form below outline the scope of the meeting. Lodging opportunities are also listed.

Please complete the registration form and return by October 1, 2003. Make Check Payable to "Soil and Water Conservation Society". Send form and payment to: Mr. Jay Blair, SWCS Treasurer, 1525 N Elms Rd., Flint MI 48532-2034.

There are many attractions and recreational opportunities open to you as you drive into the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I hope you will be able to take advantage of this chance to "drive north" and visit some of the spectacular natural and developed features of this part of our State. Make a vacation of the opportunity! Bring the entire family along.

	Yours in conservation,
	Jim Robinson, President
	Michigan Chapter
