	CONSERVATION WORKER II

	Conservation Workers (1-3) needed for employment with the City of
Ann Arbor, Michigan.
	Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Natural Area
Preservation.

	RESPONSIBILITIES:

	*	Manually remove invasive plant species from natural areas
		*   Monitor progress of restoration and ecological
stewardship activities
		*   Apply herbicide for the control of invasive plant
species
	*  Assist with prescribed ecological burns (mainly in the spring and
fall)
	*  Maintain and construct foot trails
		*  Collect, process, store and sow seed from native plants
		*  Keep detailed, accurate records of all work performed
	*  Assist with volunteer workdays and other activities

	QUALIFICATIONS:

		*  Ability to perform strenuous manual labor outdoors in all
weather conditions
		*  Ability to work with chain saws, brush blades, and other
power tools
		*  Ability to learn to distinguish between native and
non-native flora
		*  Ability to work with minimal direct field supervision
		*  Willingness to work flexible schedule including 1-2
weekends per month
		*  Friendly personality suitable for working with volunteers
and public at large
		*   Valid Michigan driver's license
		*   Willingness to obtain Commercial Pesticide Applicator
License for the State of Michigan

	SALARY:   $11.71/hour; 40 hours/week; including occasional evenings
or weekends.

	DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: September - December 2003, possible re-hire in
January 2004.
