Lake Michigan: State of the Lake '03 
featuring the Great Lakes Beach Association Meeting 

October 21-22, 2003 
Holiday Inn Muskegon Harbor, Muskegon, Michigan 

Convened by the Annis Water Resources Institute at
Grand Valley State University in cooperation with the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Lake Michigan
Forum. Funded by the U.S. EPA Great Lakes National
Program Office. 

Preliminary conference program and registration form

The registration deadline is October 14, 2003. 

Conference Overview 
As a follow-up to the Lake Michigan: State of the Lake
'99 and '01 conferences and the International Joint
Commission Biennial Meeting, the Lake Michigan: State
of the Lake '03 conference is an opportunity for
scientific researchers, government agencies, policy
makers, and the general public to communicate with one
another on current Lake Michigan issues. This two-day
event has plenary and breakout sessions as well as
posters and displays. 

The latest information on scientific research, Great
Lakes legislation, the Lake Michigan Lakewide
Management Plan, Watershed Academy, modeling and data
management, wetlands, invasive species, Lake Michigan
Mass Balance Study, and many other topics will be
presented by the speakers. 

The Great Lakes Beach Association (GLBA) is holding
its annual meeting and poster presentation at this

Registration for the whole conference (two lunches,
break, evening reception, conference materials) is $50
U.S. One-day registrations ($35 U.S.) and GLBA only
($20 U.S.) are available. The complete conference

Conference Headquarters: 
Holiday Inn Muskegon Harbor, 939 Third Street,
Muskegon, Michigan. The Tuesday reception is at the
GVSU Lake Michigan Center is located at 740 W.
Shoreline Drive, Muskegon and lunch is at the Hilt
Building is across the street from the Holiday Inn.
