The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and the United
States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) Region 5, have
scheduled a public hearing for October 30, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. in Room
L-500 of Cadillac Place, 3058 West Grand Boulevard in Detroit to receive
testimony on the proposed joint hazardous waste management operating
license and permit for US Liquids of Detroit, Inc. (USL).  Written
comments will be accepted through November 14, 2003.

USL operates a commercial hazardous waste storage and treatment
facility at 1923 Frederick Street in Detroit.  Hazardous wastes are
stored and treated in tanks and containers.  The facility accepts a
variety of wastewaters, sludges, and solids from industry for wastewater
treatment and solidification.  The draft operating license and permit
would authorize the continued operation of the facility

may be reviewed in the Sociology and Economics Department of the Detroit
Public Library, 5201 Woodward Avenue in Detroit; at the MDEQ Detroit
Office, Cadillac Place, 3058 West Grand Boulevard, Suite 2-300, in

Waste and Hazardous Materials Division Office, Constitution Hall, Atrium
