Made In Detroit appeals bankruptcy court decision

By Paula Evans Neuman, The News-Herald

DETROIT ó Made In Detroit Inc. has appealed the decision of a federal bankruptcy judge to sell off the developerís Gibraltar property.

U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Marci McIvor denied MID approval of its Chapter 11 reorganization plan on Sept. 12, and ruled in favor of the developerís unsecured creditors instead.

Her decision includes the sale of MIDís land ó 400 acres known as Humbug Marsh ó for $4.8 million to the Trust for Public Land for inclusion in the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge.

The land is the last undeveloped mile along the Detroit River. It includes 150 acres of woodland, 20-acre Humbug Island and a vast network of coastal marshes key to migratory birds, fish and other wildlife.
