Environmentalists, along with the
citizens of Northern Michgian, are celebrating what appears to be the withdrawal
of the Grand Traverse County Road Commission's plan to build a bridge and road
through the Boardman River Valley, which would have destroyed wildlife,
devastated wetlands, caused significant sprawl and pollution, and torn the
Boardman River Valley in two, while doing virtually nothing to elevate traffic
congestion in the Traverse City area.
