MSU's Office of Campus Sustainability and University Committee for a Sustainable Campus hosts it's final speaker of the semester on Wednesday, November 19 at 4:00p.m. in 223 Natural resources Building on the campus of MSU.

Dr. Tom Gladwin from the University of Michigan will speak on

"The Challenge of Global Social Sustainability"

While the goals, metrics and implications of ecological sustainability are now well understood, the realm of social sustainability is largely uncharted. Tom's talk will examine social system pressures at the global level, explore the meaning of socially sustainable development, highlight interactions with natural system pressures, and pinpoint implications for business.

Dr. Tom Gladwin Tom is the Max McGraw Professor of Sustainable Enterprise, jointly in the Business School and School of Natural Resources & Environment at the University of Michigan. He is the Director of the Erb Environmental Management Institute which promotes innovative and transdiscipliary research on ecologically and socially sustainable enterprise. He recently received the Faculty Pioneer Award for Lifetime Achievement from the World Resources Institute and the Aspen Institute.
