PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT IN DEVELOPMENT OF
BUCK CREEK WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PLAN
Grand Rapids, MI - The Lower Grand River Watershed project is halfway through a twoyear project to develop a comprehensive watershed protection plan for the Lower Grand River Watershed. Buck Creek is a subwatershed within the Lower Grand River Watershed and encompasses portions of Byron Township, Gaines Township, and the Cities of Kentwood, Wyoming, and Grandville.
The Watershed Steering Committee is seeking input from area citizens regarding opinions, issues, and concerns about water quality and the environmental health of the Watershed, as part of the planning process.
A meeting is scheduled for:
Tuesday, December 2, 2003
Gaines Township Hall
8555 Kalamazoo Avenue
Caledonia, MI 49316
6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
All interested area residents and business owners are encouraged to attend this meeting. The agenda includes a brief presentation, followed by a question and answer period. Participants will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire as part of the process.
The result of this meeting will be used to help the Watershed Steering Committee revise the plan according to comments and suggestions from the general public. The development of the plan has involved input from the local units of government and collaboration with various groups, agencies, and organizations within the Watershed.
The planning project is being developed with funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency and administrated through the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. Contracted partners include the Grand Valley Metropolitan Council (GVMC), Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTC&H), and the Grand Valley State University, Annis Water Resource Institute (AWRI).
