Regarding your above reference:

The article is a good introduction to the endocrine disruptors (ED's)
contained in plastics but it doesn't detail the enormity of the problem,
as ED's are everywhere in our environment.

Just do a Google search for "endocrine disruptors"
and you will understand the enormity of the problem.

The nickname for ED's is "gender benders", as they will actually mutate
life forms, by changing their sex characteristics and preventing them
from reproducing.

Our Great Lakes are a prime example, as studies of the mutant sex changes
in the fish have been done, showing that the level of ED's in the water is
causing the mutations.

In short, ED's are present in many other materials besides plastics and
the general public has been given very little notice of the side effects.
