One big revolving door!

If you haven't had the opportunity, read John Robbin's book, Food
Revolution.

Gets into the nitty-gritty about factory farms . . . and . . . the meat
processing plants. Basically, the meat packing production lines move so fast
that a lot of nasty pathogenic meat slips right through. Some animals are
still alive and kicking when they go through the line.

The book also talks about all the food recalls going on, food poisoning,
etc.

Chickens are about the worst. For example, they throw the chicken carcasses
in a huge vat of water to make them heavier--just to get more price per
pound. Bacteria on the chicken ends up in the water, and stays on the meat
when it arrives at the grocery store.

Chicken eggs can be a year or more old, because they are stored in chemical
vats.

All perfectly acceptable practices with the big USDA stamp.

I am really glad that the mad cow thing is back in the headlines because
food activists can now start to generate letters to the editor about the
unhealthy, unsafe, unnecssary hazards of industrial farming and food
processing.
