This week MDEQ released results of 22 soil samples taken in the floodplain:
77% of the samples exceed the state residential direct contact criteria of 90ppt with one resident having 5600ppt in his yard. Dow Chemical's dioxin continues to be pervasive throughout the Tittabawassee River floodplain. If you want more detail go to the Tittabawassee River Watch website: www.trwnews.net click on the "How Much?" page, Phase 3 section to get complete data results. http://www.trwnews.net/howmuch.htm#Phase3.
Dow's proposal for how they are planning to address their poisoning of an entire watershed can be found on the DEQ webpage at http://www.michigan.gov/deq/0,1607,7-135-3312_4118_4240-53424--,00.html. The path is http://www.michigan.gov/deq, click on Waste, Hazardous Waste, Hazardous Waste Management, then scroll down and click on Dow Hazardous Waste Facility Operating License and Corrective Action Information.
