PROTECT WILD ALASKA! A multi-media presentation on the ecological importance
of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the Culture of the Gwich'in people
who live there. Presented by Jillian Morrissey, a wilderness advocate for
Caribou Commons who has spent time as a educator and photographer in remote
Athabaskan villages in the Arctic Refuge. Sponsored by ECO, Michigan State and
the Alaska Coalition of Michigan.

Jillian Morrissey, nature photographer of the Yukon-based Caribou Commons
Project will speak and present a slide show at First Unitarian-Universalist
Church of Detroit (4605 Cass Ave., Detroit 48201), Friday March 5th, 7pm. The show
features a stunning collection of slides from the Arctic Wilderness and
offers pertinent information regarding oil-drilling issues in the Arctic National
Wildlife Refuge and the potential impacts on the Gwich'in culture. It will
also include discussion on more efficient energy solutions that will allow us to
control pollution, cut back on greenhouse gases and protect our environment.
The show is free and open to all ages.
