SUMMARIES OF DUTIES: The Executive Director is responsible for
administering activities to establish and operate all programs
consistent with the mission, strategic and operational plans, budget and
resource allocations, and established policies of Earth Share of
Michigan (ESMI), including overseeing office administration; meeting
legal and financial reporting requirements; supervising staff when
appropriate; working with the Board to design, develop and carry out
campaign access strategies; ensuring that campaigns and other projects
are run effectively and increasing revenue for ESMI member groups; and
serving as a public liaison for the organization.  The Executive
Director is responsible to the Board of Directors, and works with the
Board, appropriate Board committees, volunteers and community and
business leaders to implement these activities.  


I.  Gaining Access to Corporate and Public Sector Employers

a. Help to gain access to new workplace giving campaigns and maintain
access to existing campaigns.  This requires a knowledge of Michigan's
business community.
b. Ensure that all paperwork and forms are filed within deadlines for
campaigns to which ESMI has access.
c. Follow up access efforts.
II.  Developing and Implementing Effective Workplace Giving Campaigns

a. Ensure the effective implementation of all campaigns in which ESMI
b. Work with all campaign coordinators and committees to plan and carry
out all campaign activities.
c. Oversee the development of all campaign materials.

III. Board Development

a. Assist the Board in all its functions including recruiting,
orientation of new members, communication, development and committee
b. Assist the President in developing meeting agendas.
c. Coordinate Board communications and serve as staff liaison.
d. Develop and provide Board training as needed on topics such as
accessing new campaign accounts and coordinating campaigns.

IV.	Fundraising and Development

a. Develop foundation contacts and prepare grant proposals to secure
adequate funding for ESMI.
b. Prepare required reports to funding sources.

V.	Marketing and Public Relations

a. Develop and maintain a public profile for ESMI.
b. Coordinate development of all marketing materials.
c. Network on behalf of ESMI with local charities and other funding
alliances, including the United Way and our national Earth Share office
and state affiliates.

VI.	Administration and Personnel

a. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the ESMI office.
b. Prepare annual operating plans, budgets and reports and quarterly
financial and progress reports for the board.
c. Manage financial record keeping for income and disbursements.
d. Oversee accounting process, including bookkeeping, financial
statements, annual audits and tax filings.
e. Supervise the work of staff, consultants, and volunteers.


	Three or more years involvement with non-profit organizations
including demonstrated understanding of the needs of non-profit
environmental organizations, and an ability to work effectively with
their leaders.
	Successful fundraising experience.
	Ability to work with private and public employers.
	Excellent written and oral skills.
	Moderate travel throughout Michigan required.
