E-M:/ Upwind -- Toledo

Enviro-Mich message from "Alex J. Sagady & Associates" <ajs@sagady.com>

Just got word from an activist near Toledo, OH that
US Coking Group (which may have something to do
with DTE Energy) is in a rush to get a permit to
put a coke oven in/near Toledo on the shores of Lake Erie.

This will be a major stationary source and air toxics emitter.

This is upwind of the Detroit Metro ozone nonattainment area
and near the future Toledo/Monroe/WayneCounty PM 2.5
nonattainment area.

This would be another mercury source and a major air discharger,
and an environmental justice case as well.

Public hearing on May 13 and comment deadline by May 24.

Apparently there is some effort by the applicant and
the Toledo air agency to expedite permitting to try to escape
certain requirements.
