This public forum is for residents to find out how they can have their say on the Kalamazoo River Superfund cleanup. The Kalamazoo River was added to the national priorities list of Superfund Sites by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1990. It’s already been a long and complex process, and as USEPA moves forward, the time is now for the public to find out how they can weigh in and affect decisions before they are made and implemented.
This forum will be a chance for residents to hear and discuss information about the public participation process.
Special guests will include the Pine River Superfund Citizens Task Force who will share their experience and insight on the public participation process with the Pine River and the Velsicol Chemical Superfund Site in Gratiot County.
Residents of the Kalamazoo area, Sierra Club, the Kalamazoo River Protection Association, and the Kalamazoo River Watershed Council
