Exactly why the Free Press continues to use the Bush campaign's completely fictitious number about the jobs that could be lost in Michigan with higher fuel mileage standards is not at all clear.
In June the Michigan Land Use Institute investigated and published an authoritative piece that described how the Bush campaign came up with that 105,000 figure. They made it up.
See our piece here and let the Free Press know that they've got it wrong on an important issue.
