Public Forum on Oil and Gas Drilling Scheduled

What:		The Lake Michigan Federation, with the Traverse Group of the Sierra Club and the Friends of the Jordan River Watershed, will host a forum for the public on concerns relating to lax state oversight of oil and gas drilling.  The presentation will focus on polluted sites and degradation of natural areas.  The forum will offer steps that people can take to encourage state action on the issue.

Who:		The Lake Michigan Federation was founded in 1970 and works to restore fish and wildlife habitat, conserve land and water, and eliminate pollution in the watershed of America's largest lake through education, research, law, science, economics, and strategic partnerships. 
				The Traverse Group of the Sierra Club is a local voice for the nation's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization and has over 700 members and represents the northwest Michigan counties of Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Antrim and Otsego.  
				The Friends of the Jordan River Watershed is a grassroots, nonprofit, non-governmental organization whose mission is to conserve the natural resources and protect the environmental quality of the Jordan River and its watershed.
