Dear ALEXANDER J,

Please read the following message about protecting the Great Lakes from
Asian Carp and take action by clicking the link below.

Problem:
A $1.8 million budget shortfall has stalled the construction of an
electric dispersal barrier meant to prevent three species of Asian carp
from entering the Great Lakes, disrupting the ecosystem and transforming
the five freshwater seas into a series of "Great Carp Ponds."

Solution:
The White House in an Executive Order designated the federal Environmental
Protection Agency as being the lead agency for protecting the Great Lakes,
and the EPA has said that stopping the Asian carp from entering the lakes
is its top priority. The EPA needs to back up its words with action by
finding adequate funding for the construction of the dispersal barrier to
stop the invasion by the carp.

Action Needed:
Click the link below to send a message to U.S. EPA Administrator Michael
Leavitt and tell him that his agency needs to back up its promises with
real action by finding funding for the electric barrier to prevent the
Asian carp from entering the Great Lakes and wreaking havoc on the lakes
and their $6 billion commercial and sport fishery

Deadline for responding:
Please take action by Monday, September 27, 2004.
