Dear friends of Earth,
Attached is an invitation to a winter solstice and Christmas celebration
on December 20th. The speaker, Michael Dowd, was one of the first
Christian theologians to incorporate the findings of science re: the
origins of the universe with Christian theology. He is a creative writer
and an engaging speaker. He and his wife Connie Barlow, an acclaimed
science writer, travel throughout North America on a full time basis,
speaking on the connections between religion and ecology.
Please join us!

PS Please pass this invitation to others who you think might be
interested in attending. Thank You!

You are cordially invited to
“Christmas: Celebration of Light and Hope”
A Winter Solstice Celebration with Rev.Michael Dowd
Monday, December 20, 2004, 6:30 – 8:30 PM
We live in challenging times. At this “darkest time of the
year”, Rev. Dowd’s inspiring message of realistic hope for the
future based on long-term and short-term trends is healing balm
for the soul. Don’t miss it!
THE REV. MICHAEL DOWD, a gifted preacher, teacher, and
evolutionary theologian, has been called "America's evolutionary
evangelist." Michael’s 1991 book, EarthSpirit: A Handbook for
Nurturing an Ecological Christianity, was one of the earliest
attempts to look appreciatively at New Testament faith from the
perspective of a modern cosmology. During the 1980s and 90s,
Michael pastored three United Church of Christ congregations,
worked with Jewish, Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Evangelical
leaders across America. Michael’s great joy is telling the 14
billion year history of the Universe in ways that touch, move,
and inspire people of all ages and theological orientations.
Michael and his wife, Connie Barlow (an acclaimed writer of
popular science books), live permanently on the road, teaching
and preaching an awe-inspiring, science-based spiritual message
of hope and possibility in churches, colleges, and living rooms
all across North America.
