Protest puts H.E.A.T. and Light on Incinerator Permit Residents Take to the Street with Costumes and Picket Signs
Details Members of the Hamtramck Environmental Action Team (HEAT) will be in full regalia with creative costumes and picket signs for a protest near the Hamtramck medical waste incinerator. Residents of Hamtramck and Detroit want the permit for the Hamtramck medical waste incinerator to be denied and the incinerator to be shut down. Michigan Waste Services, the incinerator operators, are seeking a new permit to expand the types of medical waste they burn even though they have been taken to court by Michigan’s Attorney General for myriad violations of their old permit.
