Dettloff Named DNR Press Secretary

Department of Natural Resources Director Rebecca Humphries today
announced Mary Dettloff has been tapped to be the next DNR press

Dettloff, currently deputy press secretary in Governor Granholm's

"This position oversees the media relations for the department,"
Humphries said. "Mary has the experience and leadership skills to help
the DNR continue to carry its messages to our many stakeholders. I know
she will be an outstanding asset to the department."

Dettloff, a former news reporter, has been working with media for more
than 18 years. Her background includes working as a media relations
specialist with the Michigan House of Representatives and assistant
press secretary for the House Majority Press Office. She also has
experience with the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association, where she
developed and marketed member benefits and services for the 2,400-member

Dettloff holds a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in
journalism from Northern Michigan University. She will begin her new
job Feb. 22.
