We?ve long known that investing in clean energy is good for the
environment. Here?s some new data demonstrating that clean energy
investments would be good for Michigan?s economy and consumers too:
Last week, PIRGIM Education Fund released a new report entitled
?Redirecting Michigan?s Energy.? Our data found that investing in clean
energy solutions would create 3,300 new jobs annually in Michigan between
2005 and 2020 and save Michigan?s consumers $567 million on their
electricity bills in 2020. Moreover, PIRGIM Education Fund?s research
shows that shifting to clean energy solutions would generate greater
economic and consumer benefits in Michigan than the Bush-Cheney energy
plan. Clean energy production would create more jobs and save consumers
more money on their natural gas and electricity bills than the federal
energy policies proposed in 2004.
