Michigan’s most expansive
watershed is in trouble, and hundreds of Saginaw Valley sportsmen are
making a plea to Gov. Jennifer Granholm to help.
They are teaming up with Bay City-based Lone
Tree Council and asking the state to get tough – to prevent sewage
overflows, to clean up dioxin and to protect wetlands in the Saginaw River
and Bay.

The goal is to collect 700 signatures and deliver
them to the governor before spring thaw, when sewage begins to flow and
flooding sends dioxin-contaminated sediment downriver, onto residential
properties and into the bay. |
