Turkey Workshop Opportunities Available Across the State

With the spring wild turkey season just around the corner, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and various conservation organizations are partnering to offer wild turkey hunter orientation courses. First-time hunters or individuals who want to learn more about turkey hunting may benefit from attending workshops located throughout the state.

"Workshops such as these provide an excellent opportunity for first-time hunters to be comfortable with the experience of turkey hunting prior to the actual hunt," said DNR Upland Game Specialist Al Stewart. "Hunters will be taught a variety of skills such as how to approach the hunt and the different ways to call in birds."

The training sessions are open to anyone and may include turkey hunting methods, calling regulations and population status. A fee may be charged and space may be limited. Workshops being offered this spring are listed below.
