Complaint filed; developer will receive refund
 
TRAVERSE CITY - The treasurer for state Sen. Michelle McManus' re-election committee acknowledged receiving illegally large contributions from Bay Harbor developer David Johnson, but blamed the violation on a clerical error.
Bay Harbor developer Johnson has contributed more than $100,000 to federal and state Republican causes since the late 1980s, according to public records.
McManus is highly influential in controlling the funding of state departments that would have frequent dealings with developers, Robinson said.
