Senate OKs a proposal to let property owners near waterways do some yard
work without a permit.
LANSING -- Property owners living near water would not
need an environmental permit to do routine landscaping and other activities
under legislation approved Thursday by the state Senate.
Current law requires a locally issued soil erosion permit for any "earth
change" that disturbs one or more acres or is within 500 feet of a lake, stream
or wetland.
