EARTH DAY 35th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION AT
ANN ARBOR'S FARMERS MARKET
For the third consecutive year, Ann Arbor's Earth Day Festival is at Ann
Arbor's Farmers Market in the Kerrytown District on Sunday, April 24 from
12:00 - 4:00 pm. The public is invited to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of
Earth Day with free entertainment, live animal demonstrations, displays and
hands-on activities for all ages. Exhibit areas will feature alternative
energy ideas, non-profit environmental organizations, area artisans and
vendors of Earth-friendly products. Laz of "Gemini" and Friends will provide
entertainment and music relative to Earth Day, including the use of recycled
percussion.

Throughout the afternoon, the UPS Fuel Cell Sprinter delivery vehicle will
be on display along with several engineers to provide insight on its
innovative technology. Additional highlights include story-telling,
presentations by the River Raisin Raptor Center and face painting. At 2 pm,
an All Species Parade will wind through the market with costumed individuals
representing various animals, plants and other species. Interested parade
participants simply meet at Sculpture Plaza, at the corner of Catherine and
4th Ave. Bring your own costume and free face painting is available.

Ride your bike, take the bus or walk to the Earth Day Festival at the
Farmers Market to make transportation as energy efficient as possible. Free
parking is also available throughout the downtown area on Sundays, but
parking will not be available at the Farmers Market. Stop by the
registration table to pick up an orientation map and a passport, which will
guide you through the Earth Day activities.

Earth Day admission is FREE due to the generous grant from Pfizer and Secure
EcoShred, who will be performing on-site free shredding (100 lb. max) for
all Earth Day Festival visitors. Coordinators from several area
organizations and businesses help to produce this wonderful event. The
Annual Earth Day Festival is an experience for youth and their families to
have fun while discovering new ways to make Earth Day every day. Come
celebrate with us!
