Register On-line NOW at www.sustainabledetroit.org  for "Saving the Environment in Your Own Back Yard", a May 14th environmental action event scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Birmingham Unitarian Church in Bloomfield Hills (on Woodward Avenue, just north of Lone Pine Rd).

 

Co-sponsored by over 15 environmental and justice organizations, this event features: a keynote speaker on "Creating A Sustainable Future"; a workshop on advocacy led by a Sierra Club legislative specialist; a panel discussing how to challenge environmental racism; training by the Warm Training Center on how to save energy in your home and office; and a session, led by a retired teacher, on how to teach children about the environment. It also includes lots of hands on activities for children; T-shirt and button making and a field trip for junior high and high school students. A $20 registration fee includes lunch and a continental breakfast.  Lunch and all activities are FREE for students 18 years or younger.
