PUBLIC MEETING REGARDING THE DRAFT RIVER RAISIN E. COLI AND NITRATE TOTAL MAXIMUM
DAILY LOADS. The Water Bureau is announcing the
availability of the draft River Raisin pathogen and nitrate Total Maximum
Daily Loads (TMDLs) for comment. The affected waterbody is located in Lenawee
County in the vicinity of Blissfield and Deerfield, and in Monroe County near Dundee. The TMDL reaches were included on Michigan’s
Year 2004 Section 303(d) list due to elevated E. coli levels and nitrate water
quality standard (WQS) exceedances. The TMDLs are being developed to identify
the necessary corrections required to meet WQS. A public meeting will be held
July 14, 2005, at
9:00 a.m., at the
Summerfield Township Hall in Peterburg,
Michigan. Comments on the TMDLs may be
submitted to Christine Alexander (pathogen), or Erik Sunday (nitrate),
Department of Environmental Quality, Water Bureau, P.O.
Box 30273, Lansing, Michigan 48909‑7773, by July 27, 2005. Copies of
