The Alaska
Coalition of Michigan is hosting two Arctic
Advocacy Workshops. On Monday, November 7, it
will be held in the Wealthy St. Theatre Community Room from 2pm to 6pm in Grand Rapids and we’ll follow up with a social event at a nearby
eating/drinking establishment. On Tuesday, November 8, the
same workshop will be held in the Dana Building (in the northeast corner of the diag on U of
M’s central campus), Room 2024 from 4pm to 8pm in Ann Arbor. The critical vote
on whether or not to continue protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is
coming up in less than two weeks! Now is the time to make sure Representative
Ehlers does the right thing.
The National
Outreach Director of the Alaska Coalition, Shoren
Brown, is coming to town to conduct this
great training session. Shoren has been a grassroots organizer for over a
decade and is an expert on Alaskan wilderness. This is an amazing opportunity
to learn about the Arctic, basic and
advanced grassroots organizing skills applicable to any issues, and how to make
sure the Refuge stays protected for the long-term. Skills trainings will
include Campaign Strategy, Media Messaging and Outreach, and Grassroots Organizing Tools.
The Alaska
Coalition is a broad group of conservation,
sporting, religious, labor, and student organizations that work together to
protect Alaska’s
wild lands through coalition and grassroots organizing.
