Neighbors and Friends Address Issues Affecting Land, Air, and Water


ROYAL OAK –Local grassroots community organizations will be joining forces to address growing land, water, and air issues affecting Southeast Michigan residents.  Community members will be encouraged to share their thoughts and concerns following a panel presentation of issues including transportation, water withdrawal from the Great Lakes, wetlands protection, and mercury emissions. 


WHAT: A community forum and discussion to address growing Great Lakes air, water, and land concerns.  This is an opportunity for citizens to learn about issues that are at the forefront in their communities and how the can become part of the change they want to see.


WHO:  Panelists include: Leigh Fifelski with the Oakland County Sierra Club, Rochelle Breitenbach with the Detroit Audubon Society, Lynna Kaucheck with Clean Water Action, Mike Shriberg with PIRGIM, Danielle Conroyd with Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Elden Montross from the Oakland County Sportsman Club, and Lorne Beatty who is a local angler and active citizen.  Other organizations that are active in the area will also display information at the event.


WHEN: Saturday, December 10th from 11 AM – 2 PM


WHERE: Royal Oak Community Senior Center located at 3500 Marais.  The community center is located east of Crooks Road and south of 13 Mile Road


VISUALS:  Lots of people who care about their communities, a panel of professionals working to stop health threats and community degradation.
