Subject:        2006 Volunteer Stream Monitoring Grants Application Package available

Greetings Michigan Volunteer Monitoring Stakeholders.

The Michigan Clean Water Corps' 2006 Volunteer Stream Monitoring Grant Application Package (GAP) has been approved for release.  MiCorps will be accepting applications for volunteer stream monitoring funding through January 3, 2006.  This year, over $60,000 is available to fund organizations that seek to develop community-based programs to monitor macroinvertebrates and habitat characteristics.

Please visit the MiCorps website at www.micorps.net/streamgrants.html for more information about the grant program.  The web-based GAP and application program can be found directly at http://www.micorps.net/gap06.html.  The application form will be available for uploading completed proposals shortly.

Also, note that we have scheduled a conference call to answer questions about the GAP or application process.  The call will take place on December 7, 2005 at 2 PM EST. To participate, dial 712-580-8020 and enter the password 6426777 (MICORPS) followed by the # key. The call will last one hour or until questions are exhausted, whichever comes first.  MiCorps staff will also be available to answer questions via phone, or the MiCorps listserv at www.micorps.net/listserv.html.

Please be aware that, due to the holiday schedule, MiCorps staff will only be available until December 23, 2005 to answer your questions. It is suggested that you upload your application before that time. If you have problems uploading your materials during the holiday break, you may call MiCorps staff on January 3, and they will make sure your application is properly received at that time.

Good luck!  We look forward to reviewing many good proposals that seek to contribute to the state of knowledge about Michigan's rivers and streams.
